TONIGHT on WFMU's Give the Drummer Radio: Launched in 1995 with titles by Ikue Mori, the Ruins, and other avant-garde artists, Tzadik’s “New Japan” series highlighted and expanded upon an ongoing conversation between downtown New York City and the archipelago. Releases ranged from amped-up bubblegum and eccentric acapella to electronic noise and distressed digital information. This show will feature favorite tracks spanning the full 17 years of the series’ output.
